Canadian RV Association Honored with National Award for Pediatric Cancer Camp Fundraising Initiative

The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA) has been recognized with the We Care Corporate Award from Care Camps Foundation for its national fundraising and awareness campaign supporting pediatric oncology camps. The award presentation occurred during the RV Dealers Association Convention in Las Vegas as part of CRVA's 50th anniversary celebrations. Gwynn Sullivan, Executive Director of Care Camps Foundation, emphasized that "Care Camps exists because of the outdoor industry and partners like CRVA who go above and beyond" and noted that "CRVA's 50th anniversary initiative exemplified what it means to lead with heart."

Throughout 2025, CRVA conducted a coast-to-coast tour with the CRVA 50th RV, generously donated by General Coach Canada, connecting with campground owners, dealerships, and community partners at events nationwide. The initiative supported Care Camps Foundation, which operates medically supervised pediatric oncology camps for children and families. Marty Bloemberg, Chair of CRVA, explained that while celebrating the association's milestone anniversary, the organization sought "to give back in a meaningful way" with unanimous board support for Care Camps. The tour created numerous opportunities for CRVA to engage with RV enthusiasts, dealers, and industry partners who shared personal stories, donated generously, and helped amplify the foundation's mission throughout Canada.

Shane Devenish, CRVA President, described the personal significance of meeting people face-to-face during the anniversary year, noting "watching how quickly everyone rallied to support our mission this year with Care Camps." When accepting the award in Las Vegas, CRVA emphasized that recognition must be shared with RVDA of Canada, Go RVing Canada, and the Canadian Camping and RV Association, whose support through advocacy, marketing, and community leadership strengthened the initiative. Devenish continued that "the recognition doesn't belong to CRVA alone" but extends to every dealer, campground owner, manufacturer, RV owner, and supporter who participated in events or donated to the cause.

During CRVA's recent Board of Directors meeting, members and industry partners gathered to reflect on the award's significance. As CRVA moves beyond its 50th year, the association reaffirmed its commitment to industry leadership, community engagement, and supporting causes like Care Camps that reflect community values and the RV lifestyle. The award highlights how industry associations can leverage milestone celebrations to create meaningful social impact while strengthening community connections across the recreational vehicle sector.
