MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has mobilized Savanna Drilling Rig #416 to its Lawson Natural Hydrogen Complex in Saskatchewan to begin a multi-well commercial validation drilling program. The program targets what the company believes could become the world's first large-scale commercial Natural Hydrogen discovery, following its previously announced Natural Hydrogen discovery and independent laboratory confirmation.
The initial well will test a target defined through high-resolution 3D seismic, with the program designed to evaluate key commercial parameters including flow, pressure behavior, continuity, gas concentrations, deliverability and scalability. This drilling campaign represents a critical step in validating the commercial viability of the Lawson discovery, which is Canada's first-ever subsurface Natural Hydrogen system confirmed through deep drilling with data validated by three independent labs.
Natural hydrogen, also known as white hydrogen, is generated naturally through geological processes and has emerged as a potential low-carbon energy source. If successful, the Lawson project could position Saskatchewan as a key player in the emerging natural hydrogen industry, offering a cleaner alternative to hydrogen produced from fossil fuels.
In addition to the drilling program, MAX Power announced a six-month renewal of its investor awareness agreement with Emerging Markets Consulting, under which it will pay an additional $400,000 for strategic communications and investor awareness services. The company also granted incentive stock options to certain directors, officers and consultants to purchase up to an aggregate of 5,235,000 common shares under its omnibus equity incentive plan.
MAX Power holds a dominant district-scale land position across Saskatchewan with approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits covering prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of Natural Hydrogen. The company also holds a portfolio of properties in the United States and Canada focused on critical minerals, including a 2024 diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona, 100%-owned by MAX Power's U.S. subsidiary.
The implications of this drilling program extend beyond the company. If commercial quantities of natural hydrogen are confirmed, it could accelerate the shift to decarbonization by providing a readily available, low-carbon energy source. The success of the Lawson project could also attract further investment into natural hydrogen exploration in North America, potentially reducing reliance on imported energy and supporting energy security.
