Baselode Energy has initiated a 1,500-metre drill program at its Bear Uranium project situated in the Athabasca Basin of northern Saskatchewan. The exploration company's CEO James Sykes confirmed the program will consist of 6 to 8 drill holes targeting 3 to 4 distinct areas of interest within the project boundaries. Field crews have already begun logistical preparations, with drill crews scheduled to arrive on-site within the next two weeks.
The company is employing helicopter support for the drilling operations, a strategic approach designed to accelerate drill targeting while minimizing ground-level environmental disturbance. Baselode Energy has secured all required regulatory permits for the program, ensuring full compliance with environmental and operational standards. This drilling initiative represents a significant step in the company's systematic exploration approach within the Athabasca Basin, one of the world's most prolific uranium-producing regions.
Complementing the drilling activities, Baselode Energy completed a low-altitude, high-resolution airborne radiometric and magnetic survey over the Bear project in March. While final results from this survey are still pending, the company anticipates receiving them before drilling commences. These geophysical data are expected to provide crucial targeting information for the drill program, potentially enhancing the efficiency of mineral exploration efforts. The integration of airborne survey data with ground-based drilling represents modern exploration methodology that could yield significant discoveries.
Simultaneously, Sykes provided updates on the company's Catharsis Project, where recent drilling comprised 11 holes totaling 2,837 meters across six target areas. Preliminary observations revealed encouraging signs of hydrothermal alteration and structural features in two additional target zones, suggesting potential mineralization. The company plans to issue a comprehensive news release once all assay results have been received and thoroughly interpreted. Further supporting the Catharsis exploration, a similar low-altitude airborne radiometric and magnetic survey was completed in April, providing additional geological context for ongoing analysis.
Baselode Energy's concurrent advancement of multiple projects in the Athabasca Basin demonstrates the company's commitment to systematic uranium exploration. The Bear project drilling, combined with ongoing work at Catharsis, represents a coordinated effort to identify and delineate high-potential mineralization targets using integrated geological and geophysical approaches. The company maintains its focus on leveraging innovative exploration techniques while awaiting critical data that could shape future drilling campaigns and potentially unlock the full mineral potential of its Saskatchewan properties.
