The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA) is commemorating five decades of industry leadership with an innovative charitable initiative focused on supporting children battling cancer. Founded in 1975, the organization has chosen to mark its 50th anniversary by partnering with Care Camps to create a nationwide fundraising campaign that combines celebration with meaningful community impact.
General Coach Canada, a longtime CRVA member, has donated a 2025 25' Citation Reward Travel Trailer that serves as the centerpiece of the fundraising effort. The RV will be wrapped in a custom design and feature a QR code directing potential donors to support Care Camps, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the charity. This approach ensures that every dollar raised directly supports children with cancer experiencing specialized outdoor camps.
The fundraising campaign will launch at the Toronto Spring Camping and RV Show from February 27 to March 2, 2025, where the specially designed trailer will be first unveiled and raffle tickets will become available to the public. Following the initial showcase, the trailer will embark on a cross-country journey, appearing at various festivals and events throughout the year to maximize exposure and fundraising potential across multiple Canadian communities.
Roger Faulkner, President of General Coach Canada, highlighted the significance of the donation, noting that CRVA has played a vital role in strengthening the Canadian RV industry throughout its five decades of operation. Shane Devenish, CRVA's President, emphasized that the anniversary represents an opportunity to celebrate past achievements while honoring the many individuals and organizations that have contributed to the association's sustained success and industry influence.
Beyond the charitable initiative, CRVA's milestone celebration includes several commemorative activities designed to recognize the organization's historical significance. These include a special 50th-anniversary logo, historical retrospectives acknowledging key industry figures, and advocacy campaigns reinforcing the organization's ongoing commitment to industry standards, safety protocols, and consumer protection measures.
The partnership with Care Camps demonstrates CRVA's dedication to corporate social responsibility and community engagement. Gwynn Sullivan, Executive Director of Care Camps Foundation, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, noting the profound impact such initiatives have on providing children with cancer opportunities to experience joy, adventure, and normalcy through specialized outdoor camping experiences designed for their unique needs.
As CRVA looks toward the next 50 years, the organization remains committed to its core mission of promoting the RV lifestyle, supporting sustainable industry growth, and making positive contributions to communities across Canada. The anniversary celebration and charitable partnership represent both a reflection on past accomplishments and a forward-looking commitment to continued industry leadership and social responsibility.
